R&B sensation Journey Montana is back with a brand new music video for “Rivals,” a highlight from her sophomore EP, Stargirl. The visual, directed by Borleone, follows her November-released collaboration (“Undefeated”) with Eric Bellinger – which made its global broadcast premiere on BET Jams / BET Soul.
This time around, Journey hits the streets of NYC to make it clear that she’s unfazed by the noise. She confidently airs out the animosity she’s faced from exes, enemies, and critics alike as her profile has continued to rise. Spliced with purple-tinted clips of the young starlet and her crew standing on business, Journey’s new video is a captivating illustration of the mindset she’s carrying into 2024 and beyond. Watch above.
Stargirl bookends Journey’s groundbreaking success this year. The 8-track EP was praised for its vulnerability, garnering rave reviews from publications such as BET, Essence, YouKnowIGotSoul, and Rated R&B to name a few. The Harlem native’s sound has evolved considerably since 2021’s In & Out EP, and now, Journey Montana is squarely positioned to take her career to the next level.
“The EP continues Journey’s hard-hitting run” – Essence
“With raw honesty, she paints a vivid picture of the pain and drama she went through with a no-good companion” – Rated R&B
“[Stargirl] takes listeners through a range of emotions and pays homage to the personal tales that capture Journey’s vulnerability.” – YouKnowIGotSoul
ABOUT JOURNEY MONTANA:
Born and raised in Harlem, New York, Journey Montana’s destiny was paved after Mariah Carey’s vocal coach commented on her perfect pitched wailing as an infant. The 19-year-old singer eased her way into music through singing into her MacBook and eventually uploading covers of popular songs on Instagram and YouTube attracting the attention of producers and fellow musicians. Her 2021 debut EP, In & Out, synthesized the essence of cool-girl R&B, full of glossy lips and juicy gossip, quickly followed by her TikTok viral hit, “Bad Decisions” in 2022. On her latest EP with 10K Projects, Journey Montana is ready to keep the momentum going as Harlem’s rising R&B princess with more music on the way.
