London-bred crooner Col3trane turns the page on a new chapter in his sonics with “Simp,” the first single off his upcoming project, Chekhov’s Gun, due this Spring.
After taking to social media to double down on his commitment to the simp life, Col3trane made his stance clear: there’s nothing wrong with showing someone you care. His latest score arrives fully formed, serving as an uptempo example of his evolution as an artist.
Still, Col3trane serenades listeners with his signature falsetto while embracing the latest trend of Jersey Club-inspired bounce that is currently taking over the world.
On the new single, Col3trane explains:
This sound is quite different for me, but something I’ve been experimenting with for a little while. [“Simp”] still has that live feel in the verses, but in the chorus it has this kinda Jersey bounce. I’m really excited for this one because it’s a real sonic journey and I’ve never heard anything like it before.
“Simp” builds on the momentum of Col3trane’s critically-acclaimed debut album, Lush Life, which garnered support from media outlets like Okayplayer, Rated R&B, Ones to Watch, Notion, and more. The latter recruited him as their November digital cover star.
As Col3trane continues to expand his catalog while dealing with new sounds, feelings, ideas, and everything in between, one thing in particular is for certain – simpin’ ain’t easy, but it’s necessary.
About Col3trane
Col3trane’s bubbling career first rose to the surface with the release of his 2017 mixtape, Tsarina. Influenced by the UK-native’s vast musical exposure, the mixtape garnered serious attention for its unique sound; generating 3MM streams on Spotify within the first month. Col3trane’s second project, BOOT (Breathing Out of Time), proved to be just as impactful. In 2019, he capitalized on his massive EP Heroine with the leading track “Superpowers” featuring Goldlink. In 2020, the young Londoner maintained momentum with love ballads, “Someone To Watch Over Me” and “Good News” into collaborations with Kiana Lede on “Clutch” and best mate and fellow Londoner, Mahalia on “Pretty.” Now, Col3trane releases his highly anticipated debut album Lush Life and is set to take over 2022 by storm.
